Appalachia 64, Twin Springs 55

APPALACHIA - Appalachia's Tyler Hall hit six 3-point shots on the way to a 22-point performance to lead Appalachia (5-0) to a non-district win.

Mladen Bogicevic added 16 points for the Bulldogs.

Twin Springs (1-3) got 18 points from David Campbell, while Kris Jordan finished with 14 points and Jared Finch added 10.

Powell Valley 61, Rye Cove 23

BIG STONE GAP - The Powell Valley Vikings (5-0) overcame a slow start to outscore Rye Cove 53-16 in the final 3 quarters to take a big non-district win.

Tyler Garrison led the Vikings with 18 points, while Sam Vaughn finished with 12 points.

Rye Cove (0-6) got 13 points from Zach Maness.

HIGH SCHOOL GIRLS...

Appalachia 38, Twin Springs 28

APPALACHIA - The Lady Bulldogs jumped out to a big lead and held off Twin Springs (1-3) to pick up a non-district win.

Teryn Mullins and Erica Boggs led a balanced scorig attack for Appalachia (3-2) with 8 points each, while Ashley McConnell accounted for 15 of Twin Springs' points.

Pound beat Thomas Walker in both girls and boys tonight.

I think the girls won by 4 and the boys won by 2.

PV didn't play very well in the first quarter but turned it on there after. One thing I really like about PV is the fact that even if they are off shooting wise the defensive effort seems to always be there. Garrison came up with 10 steals tonight.
